What you will do:

 

You will be responsible for ensuring the timely availability of MRO materials and spare parts through effective negotiation of purchase orders and contracts with both local and international suppliers. You will guarantee that procurement processes at Altamira comply with Americas Procurement standards, while driving cost competitiveness through a strong and reliable supplier base focused on cost avoidance and cost savings.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the reliability and availability of purchase orders, contracts, CRAFS, and OLAS for the acquisition of technical goods, while maintaining full compliance with corporate and regional procurement policies. You will also oversee consignment processes and manage import operations, including overseas shipments and cross-border logistics through the U.S. (Texas–Laredo border).

 

  • Developing and maintaining a reliable supplier base, ensuring vendors are selected based on quality, on-time delivery, professionalism, ethical behavior, and compliance with company safety standards, while securing the most favorable commercial and payment terms.

 

  • Driving cost efficiency in MRO procurement by developing sourcing strategies, identifying key suppliers to meet annual technical budgets, and securing the most competitive pricing for technical materials. You will work closely with Operations and Maintenance teams to ensure operational needs are met within budget, and collaborate with the storeroom to optimize min-max inventory levels and improve process efficiency.

 

  • Ensuring the uninterrupted availability of services and materials for plant operations, maintaining compliance with quality and safety standards, conducting supplier audits, monitoring delivery performance, and enforcing corrective actions in case of supply disruptions. You will also manage procurement support systems such as EDICOM, REPSE, and electronic payment receipt platforms.

 

  • Ensuring strict compliance with all company policies and applicable quality, safety, environmental, ethical, and security standards.

 

What you will bring:

 

Level of education & knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Business Management, Chemical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.

 

Experience in general:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the chemical or petrochemical industry.
  • At least 5 years of experience in negotiation, contract development, and contract management.
  • Experience in warehouse management systems and inventory level monitoring.

 

Technical skills:

  • Advanced business English.
  • Intermediate or higher proficiency in SAP purchasing processes; COUPA experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of materials handling and storage.
  • Strong skills in negotiation and conflict management.
  • Planning and resource management capabilities.
  • Solid understanding of procurement processes.
  • Experience with VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) and consignment stock models.
  • Knowledge of import processes, including cross-dock operations at the Laredo, Texas border.
  • Experience managing customs brokers and freight forwarders.
