The Position: 

The Occupational Health Nurse is a trusted resource for employees and leaders at our Texas City site, providing occupational health services that protect employee health, support safe return to work and promote a strong safety culture.

This is an opportunity for an experienced RN with occupational health case management experience to bring their clinical expertise into a highly autonomous role supporting employees in a chemical manufacturing environment. You will partner closely with SHEQ, HR, Industrial Hygiene, site leadership and healthcare providers to manage employee health cases, medical surveillance and workplace health programs while providing compassionate support to employees experiencing occupational and non-occupational illnesses or injuries.

This is an onsite, Monday–Friday position supporting a 24/7 manufacturing operation, with occasional after-hours support when needed.

 

What you will do: 

  • Manage employee health cases involving occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses, including assessment, treatment coordination, case management, FMLA/medical leave, fitness-for-duty and return-to-work.
  • Provide occupational health and emergency care, including first aid/triage, evaluation of workplace injuries and illnesses, and coordination with the site's consulting physician and outside healthcare providers.
  • Coordinate medical surveillance and testing programs, including physical examinations, drug and alcohol testing, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, immunizations and other OSHA-required health programs.
  • Maintain confidential employee medical records and ensure occupational health practices and documentation comply with applicable OSHA, ADA, FMLA and company requirements.
  • Partner with SHEQ, HR, Industrial Hygiene and site leadership on workplace health risks, employee wellness, incident management and health-related safety initiatives.
  • Support emergency preparedness and employee education by coordinating CPR/first aid activities, supporting Emergency Response Team training and promoting health awareness and wellness programs.
  • Maintain medical equipment, supplies, procedures and protocols and provide occasional backup support to other INEOS locations as needed.

 

What you will bring: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • 5+ years of professional RN experience, including hands-on experience with occupational health case management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing employee medical cases, including return-to-work, fitness-for-duty, FMLA/medical leave, and workplace injuries and illnesses.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and occupational health requirements, with an understanding of ADA, FMLA and workplace medical confidentiality.
  • Experience in chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, manufacturing or another industrial environment preferred, but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently manage multiple employee health cases, programs and confidential medical records.
  • A compassionate, approachable communication style with the ability to build trust and rapport with employees, particularly when supporting employees through challenging medical situations.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively with employees, leaders, healthcare providers and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn occupational health/medical record systems.

 

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN or COHN-S)
  • Drug and Alcohol Collection Certification
  • CAOHC Certification (Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation)
  • NIOSH Spirometry/Pulmonary Function Testing Certification
  • American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Instructor Certification
