Purpose of role

The PTA Product Manager leads a team of three and is responsible for PTA sales across China and export markets in the rest of Asia, managing an annual volume of approximately 2.5 million tons.
As the single point of accountability for PTA sales performance, the role drives the development and execution of commercial strategies, contractual and spot sales activities, cost optimization initiatives, and pricing risk management. The position also serves as a key interface with internal and external stakeholders, while partnering with global teams to enhance commercial effectiveness, capture optimization opportunities, and deliver sustainable business growth.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities of the Job

•    Lead the development of long-term China PTA commercial strategies, including market growth and cycle forecasting over a three- to five-year horizon, identification and evaluation of investment opportunities, and long-range resource planning.
•    Develop and execute China PTA sales plans, defining volume allocation and pricing strategies, customer segmentation, portfolio optimization, channel management, and implementation of innovative commercial tools and approaches to maximize business value.
•    Lead the China PTA sales team in delivering EBITDA targets through disciplined commercial execution and a robust order-to-cash process, while safeguarding INEOS Aromatics’ interests in areas such as payment security, contractual compliance, and legal and regulatory requirements.
•    Build and manage strategic relationships with customers and external stakeholders, including leading contract negotiations, managing special commercial arrangements, resolving customer issues, overseeing customer databases, and driving customer engagement and service excellence.
•    Represent INEOS Aromatics at senior executive and ownership levels within major polyester companies and broader industry networks, strengthening the company’s market presence and influence.
•    Collaborate closely with Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Finance teams to ensure alignment between sales plans, PX procurement strategies, and production schedules, while balancing commercial opportunities and operational risks.
•    Monitor market developments, customer behavior, competitive dynamics, and industry trends, providing actionable market intelligence and commercial insights to support business decision-making.
•    Maintain close coordination with Aromatics commercial teams across Asia to align market views, share best practices, and optimize regional commercial performance, while partnering with teams in Europe and the Americas to support global optimization initiatives.
•    Provide leadership within the commercial organization in the areas of safety, performance management, cost control, talent development, and continuous improvement, ensuring delivery of Performance Contract objectives and adoption of best practices.
•    Develop succession plans and organizational capabilities within the commercial team, providing coaching, mentoring, and training to strengthen commercial, negotiation, and market analysis competencies across the Asia organization.

Required Profile

Level of education & Knowledge: 

•    Bachelor degree or above in STEM or commercial or Business Administration
•    Strong experience and skills in commodity trading is a plus.

Experience in general: 

•    Background in chemical industry, experience in regional and international organizations
•    10-15 years of progressive industry experience  
•    Must be fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese. 
•    Strong interpersonal, communication, and commercial sense supporting a diverse, multicultural environment.
