Industrial HVAC Technician / HVAC Mechanic
Location
Wando, South Carolina
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 6:00am-4:30pm
The Position:
The HVAC Technician maintains, troubleshoots and repairs industrial and commercial HVAC equipment supporting building and process applications at the Cooper River Site. This hands-on role works with a variety of HVAC systems while also supporting general plant maintenance as needed.

What you will do:
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and repair industrial and commercial HVAC systems, including chillers, package units, mini-splits, exhaust fans, electrical components, controls, piping, pumps and air distribution systems.
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions, identify root causes and work collaboratively with operations, engineering, contractors and equipment vendors to safely resolve issues.
- Support general plant maintenance beyond HVAC as needed, including minor repairs, installations and facility maintenance.
- Track refrigerant usage and maintain accurate equipment and maintenance records.
- Prepare permits to work and task risk assessments, ensuring work complies with company safety, environmental and operating procedures.
- Support continuous improvement efforts to improve equipment reliability, preventative maintenance programs and cost effectiveness.
- Maintain tools, shops, vehicles and work areas and contribute to a safe, positive and team-oriented work environment.
- Participate in periodic on-call and after-hours support, including nights, weekends and holidays when required.
What you will bring:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of relevant HVAC maintenance and repair experience in an industrial, manufacturing or commercial environment. Industrial/manufacturing experience preferred; residential-only HVAC experience does not meet the requirements of this role.
- EPA Section 608 Universal Refrigerant Certification required.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting and maintaining equipment such as chillers, package units, mini-splits, exhaust fans, pumps, controls and refrigeration/HVAC systems.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and follow technical, maintenance and safety procedures.
- Support general plant maintenance beyond HVAC and work collaboratively as part of the maintenance team.
- Participate in an on-call rotation, including nights, weekends and holidays when required.
- Successfully complete required pre-employment mechanical aptitude, reading and mathematics assessments.
- Additional HVAC-related certifications preferred.
Physical demands:
- The ability to routinely work in confined spaces for extended periods of time.
- The ability to routinely climb stairs & ladders that can exceed 200 feet in total span with break decks.
- The ability to lift & carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds in weight.
- The ability to put on respirators and other important safety equipment.
- Constant (67-100% of time) exerting over 50 pounds of force (lifting, pulling, pushing, torquing), standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, carrying, repetitive motions.
- Working outside 67-100% of time in temperature extremes and noisy environment
- The willingness & ability to work in all weather conditions.
